Match report After being frustrated by the weather last week, Stratfield Turgis 2nd XI got their season off to the perfect start against Catcliffe Way at Sol Joel on Saturday. Skipper Grant Strudley won the toss and put the home team in on what turned out to be a bowler friendly surface. Despite a rapid start, Catcliffe were soon in trouble after losing 4 wickets with the score on just 18. They never recovered and were shot out for just 54 with no batsman hitting double figures. The star for Turgis was Depesh Desai who returned figures of 6-24 with support provided by fellow opening bowler, Craig Strudley, who took 3-29. Despite the low total, Catcliffe were far from beaten and caused Turgis real trouble with the ball. Early wickets including a suicidal run out left Turgis reeling at 35 for 4 before left-handed opener Ian Rogers steadied a few nerves to bring them home with an unbeaten 34.
