Match report Stratfield Turgis 2nds maintained their perfect start to the season with
a solid win against Grouse and Label 2nds at Turgis Green. The visitors
chose to bat after winning the toss but were soon in deep trouble at 31
for 5. It took some good clean hitting from the middle order, which
produced partnerships of 32 for the 6th wicket and 39 for the 8th
wicket, to help them finally post a total of 109. For Stratfield, Craig
Strudley (3 for 38) and Depesh Desai (3 for 47) did most of the damage.
In reply the home team appeared to be cruising after Ed Dingwall and
Martin Turvey put on 55 for the first wicket, however, a flurry of
wickets ensured a nervy finish. Despite some good bowling, skipper Grant
Strudley (28 n.o.) and Dave Jones (9 n.o.) kept calm to put on 37 runs
for the 7th wicket to see Stratfield safely home.
