Match report Stratfield Turgis 1st XI posted their first win of the season with a
comfortable win against Hawley. After being put in, the visitors found runs
hard to come by and lost wickets at regular intervals. Opening bowler, Craig
Strudley, was the first to make the most of the bowler friendly conditions
with 2 early wickets before young paceman, Nathan Field (4-28), took over.
Hawley's lower order battled hard though and helped post a total of 122
after recovering from 75 for 7. Despite an early setback when prolific
batsman, Steve Clarke, was dismissed Stratfield coasted home. A terrific
century stand between Martin Sandland (62) and wicket keeper, Jimmy Wright
(52 not out), proved more than enough to earn Turgis the points.
