Match report The 1st XI ended the season with yet another positive result. Asked to bat first on a difficult wicket, we did well to reach 196 for 7 off of our 45 overs. Star performers were Abhi with 59 and returning skipper Manoj with 63 not out. Some tight early bowling from Tom and Venki meant that, despite not losing wickets, Earley were never really in the hunt. When the inevitable acceleration game, Shashank and Bobby did well to stem the flow of runs. A flurry of late wickets saw us claim the winning draw and 27 points. In theory, that should be enough for second spot and promotion; however, it's so tight at the top we are still waiting for official confirmation from the league. Watch this space. Whatever the outcome, it's been a successful and, importantly, a very enjoyable season!
