Stratfield Turgis & Hartley Wespall Cricket Club 1st XI v Peppard Stoke Row 2nd XI on Sat 11 Aug 2018 at 1pm
Match was Drawn Losing Draw (Abandoned)

Match report The 1st XI fell victim to some inclement weather and a bizarre Berkshire League rule. After winning the toss, PSR elected to bat and made a credible 200 for 8. Pick of the bowlers were again Tom Clay (1 for 31 off of 11 overs) and Vignesh (3 for 42 off of 10). The score was challenging but we have comfortably made 200 many times this season and so there was understandable confidence a victory was possible. Despite losing 4 wickets, Turgis were on 124 off of just 24 overs when the rain came. John Synodinos batted well and was set on 60 not out. Unfortunately, no further play was possible which meant the game ended in a draw. Strangely (and very unfairly) the League rule is that the team batting first get awarded the Winning Draw and the majority of the points. despite having an inferior run rate when the rain came. Although the 'result' was a blow to the promotion push, hopefully confidence remains high as we come to the final 3 league matches.
