The boys batted first after captain Jack Rawlins won the toss and elected to bat.
Oscar Brownfield reluctantly opened the batting with Francis Fisher. Whilst Francis got a “peach of a first ball” Oscar made light work of the bowling and smashed 35 including two sixes. Jack Rawlins was as solid as usual in his knock of 12. Josh Sandland didn’t hang around again hitting 35 including four sixes. Spencer Dykes (2) and Harry Harper 6 kept their wickets. Next to bat was Will Brooks who played some great cover drives in his 14, Jack Anthony and Owen West playing only his second game, batted well and a useful end to the innings by Robin (14) moved our score to 177 for 3.
Overton could not get on top of the two opening bowlers Jack A and Will. Robin, Josh, Oscar and Owen (first wicket for ST) all picked up a wicket. Francis picked up two in two balls and Jack Rawlins finished off the tail also taking two wickets. really good tight bowling by Harry and Spencer who came so close to hitting the stumps. All of the wickets we took were bowled so just goes to show ....practice makes perfect!
Thanks to Sam B for scoring and all the helpers this morning.
