U11s lost to Cove by 2 runs
In
30 degree heat Stratfield bowled first despite only capturing 3 wickets
restricted a good Cove side to 277. Start bowler was Harvey who took 2 wickets
and the other one was a caught and bowled by Harry Harper with his first ball
in proper cricket! Once again Spencer, Alistair and Issac returned excellent
bowling figures.
Our
innings started well with Barnaby and Harvey scoring 15 of the fist 4 overs.
Leo and Alistair consolidated the innings well before Jack Rawlins (16) and
Harry took the Cove bowling to the cleaners for a couple of overs. The impetus
continued with Ben Brooks (playing his first game of the season) smashing 16
and ably supported by Issac.
So,
with the score on 259 the last pairing of Spencer and Josh came to the wicket.
Some great calling and running brought the scoreboard to 276 on the last ball.
Sadly we only managed a single as the ball died on the tired and dusty wicket!
Although
its a loss we actually scored more runs than them (but lost more wickets). Some
of these were very unlucky. Never mind !
